Romans 12:1

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship.

Week 5 review

We learned about Praying for Missionaries this past Wednesday.   We also touched on our brothers and sisters who are not welcome to worship Jesus freely like we are. And that they need our prayers even more so they don't loose courage.   We talked about the many people who have never heard of Jesus.

Memory Verse:
"And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message," Colossians 4:3

If they want to take it a step further and memorize the whole verse, then it is:
"And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains."

We talked about putting together a prayer bag with items that will help you remember what to pray, such as plastic food to help us remember to pray that they can get good food to eat for themselves and for others to help spread the love of Christ.

Make your own missionary bag for your home to pray with your children.  I got the idea from: http://scripturelady.com/?p=2482

I really liked this families approach to praying for missionaries they personally support (we are going to try this one.  I'll let you know how it goes):

Chinese pastors and Antient Words Ministry

This past Sunday,  our church hosted Luke and Lily,  a husband and wife team dedicated to preaching the gospel in China, along with their interpreter,  Peter.   Their story is a remarkable one of courage and passion for God's people.

China is now closed to western missionaries.   But the nationals there are spreading the word of God despite the opposition from government and others.

But we can help with our prayers and financial support.   One of their prayers is that those who come,  come with pure hearts.  They also struggle with having a place to meet.

Due to the potential danger,  we were asked not to take pictures.   Please be paying for Luke and Lily and the people they reach.

Antient Words is a nonprofit nondenominational organization dedicated to teaching and training people to go and teach the word of God to others.  To learn more about Ancient Words Ministres, go to www.antientwords.us

Week four

We had a great night Wednesday night!   We had some very special visitors in our class as well!  The Gorrells, a husband and wife team from our church,  are missionaries in Canada.   They are in town and came in to talk to the children about the work they do and to show them some pictures of the area and people they serve.

We also talked about what it means to be a friend by learning about Jonathan and David.   Being a friend to someone is one of the best ways to share and show Jesus to someone.   We also discussed ways to show love to our friends and inviting them to church. That is also our new folder activity we added.  They can earn a special price for bringing a friend Wednesdays or even Sundays.  They were very excited about that.

Our memory verse this week is Proverbs 17:17 "A friend loves at all times,  he is there to help when trouble comes."

Be praying for the Gorrells and their work in Canada, for the hearts of those they speak to to be open to the word of God.

If anyone has done any of the activities,  please let me know.   And do send pictures so I can post them here to share with every one!   :)

Thank you and have a great week.

Week three

Week three of trinity kids went well!  We were missing half our friend though. :(  Please be praying for Cooper as he was injured in an accedent last week.   He is now at home recovering.

This week we learned that Jesus said He is the light of the world and we need to take that light into the world.   We learned that the world lives in darkness that is sin and needs to see the light of Jesus shine through us in our actions and words.

Our memory verse for this week is "I am the light of the world. ..." John 8:12

We also learned about the country of Tajikistan in central Asia.   They are one of the poorest countries in Central Asia and most of the people there have never heard about Jesus.   I sent home a prayer card so that you and your children can pray for the people were learn about.   You can also go to (website) to learn more about the need in Tajikistan as well as other countries around the world.

I added a new page to their folders.   It is for inviting a friend to church.  One who might not have ever been to church before or who doesn't come on a regular basis.   They are welcome in Wednesday night's or even Sunday mornings.   I will be encouraging them to bring a friend in the weeks to come.

Thank you again for allowing me to reach your children the love of Christ!

Week two

This week,  we had Mrs. Cheri come and do music with us.   She will be leading the kids in music this semester and giving them a taste of music from other countries.

We also talked about the Bedia, an unreached people group in India.   We watched a short video about them and learned that  the gospel is mainly unknown and unwelcome there.   The children saw that the people were not as privileged as we are here.   I sent home prayer sheets about how they can pray for the Bedia people group.

We talked about the cost of going to tell others about Jesus.   We will continue to discuss this matter on Wednesday nights as we learn about missionaries and the people they work with.   I hope to give them a taste of what the great commission means.  That is also our memory verse for this week.   "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,  baptizing them in the name of the father and if the son and of the holy spirit. "  Matthew 28:19

At home,  you can continue to talk about these issues in more detail for further learning.   I will lists other resources here for you to use if you would like.   Comment on this post iff you have found anything.

Thanks!  Have a blessed week!

Go out to eat!

Recently we went out to Arby's for dinner.   While there I noticed on their kids meal bag that they donate a portion of the proceeds from the meal to No Kid Hungry foundation.  what a great way to teach your kids about how blessed we are and that our meal is helping another child eat.   My two were very surprised that one out of every five kids in America struggles with not having something to eat in a regular basis.   It was a great opportunity for them to learn that reality.

While there, we saw this on the table.

Lucky,  I just happened to have a dollar in my wallet so the kids were excited to share that and help other kids receive a meal.

Other restaurants have similar programs where a portion of the kids meal goes to help other kids in need.   Feel free to share other places you know that offer something,  or experiences you have had with your kids,  in the comments.   :)

Week one review

We had a great first week last week!  We learned that Jesus says to love our neighbor as ourselves.   That was also our memory verse.  "You shall love your neighbor as yourself. " Matthew 22:39. Please be working on t this with them.  They will get a prize if the can tell me their verse Wednesday.

Also please bring their folders back with them so I can stamp them to earn other prizes.  I hope the kids enjoy working on these with you.   I am excited to see what they do.

Have a blessed week!
